A small project facilitating tedious binary patching by providing a Patcher that allows for easy changes for supported games.
The program is written from scratch in C with a focus on Windows (x86 / x64). Therefore no .NET or C++ Redistributables are needed to run it. The project may be expanded in the future.

The Patcher automatically creates a backup file (.bak) and will

not

overwrite it, if it already exists.

Even though most of these old games are difficult to get to run without a valid CD mounted, please note that

for obvious reasons.

Davilex Racer

Several of the "Racer" games by Davilex are based on the Gamebryo / NetImmerse engine and use a 25 FPS lock, which makes these games unnecessarily janky.

The Patcher allows for changing the FPS to desired values instead.

Beach Life

The isometric game "Beach Life" supports only 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 and 1280x960 by default. However, the game could handle widescreen resolutions aswell, without stretching the image or UI. High resolutions might reduce the FPS a little however.

The Patcher allows for replacing 640x480 with any desired resolution instead.

Dark Messiah Of Might & Magic

Dark Messiah uses a hard-coded field of view value of 85. To change it, the player has to enable sv_cheats 1 and type the command
/fov <Value>, which will take effect after a map change.

The Patcher allows for changing the FoV permanently. Remember to set /viewmodel_fov in the console, to adjust the FoV used when grabbing objects, if needed.

GTR 2 - FIA GT Racing Game

The Steam release of GTR 2 is missing the Porsche and Ferrari cars due to licencing problems. Re-enabling those is not difficult but a chore to do manually.

The Patcher allows for re-adding the content easily.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Power Of Chaos

The 3 "Power of Chaos" games are fairly slow-paced, which is good for beginners but becomes a bit of a drag later on for veterans. The second and third games support a start parameter named "-speedy" to increase the speed by doubling the game's 30 FPS to 60 instead. The first game only supports this parameter if the obscure 2.0 update is installed.

The Patcher allows for changing the FPS (therefore the speed) in all three games to any desired value without any start parameter.

Dungeon Lords

The Steam version of Dungeon Lords added native widescreen support, however the FoV uses VERT- behavior.

The Patcher allows for fixing the aspect ratio for the game properly.
A small downside exists: The character sheet window and the character portrait both depend on the aspect ratio and might get offset.

Rally Championship Xtreme

The old Rally Championship Xtreme supports setting widescreen resolutions but suffers from 3D stretching.

The Patcher allows for fixing the aspect ratio and unstretching the game.
Small shortcoming: The menu and the 2D HUD remain stretched.

Rollercoaster Tycoon

The digital versions of Rollercoaster Tycoon are based on the Deluxe Edition, which uses the special 1.20.015 build as opposed to the common 1.20.013 one. That special version is encrypted. However, this only affects the English version.

The game is limited to only a few resolutions and no known, working method exists to achieve widescreen resolutions in fullscreen mode on the original game. Window mode however can be forced to support even widescreen resolutions.

The Patcher can unlock unrestricted resizing in window mode, which also makes the maximize button of the game's window resize it roughly to the Desktop resolution.

Before: Locked to a small 4:3 resolution.


After: Unlocked, resized to a 16:9 resolution.
