Thank you for providing an FPS patch to the Davilex World Challenge game! Pleased to see this was recently released while I'm replaying all of my old games. However the patch for me on the Dutch release version called A2 Racer World Challenge doesn't give the result I was hoping for. Sure the maximum FPS seems to be increased to 60, but the game very regularly still drops below 30 and lower than that if more than one AI car is in my view. I tried to run the game on my laptop with Windows 10 LTSC with the patch and on a PC running Linux using Proton 8.0, DgVoodoo and DXVK but both seem to have the same issue. Using DgVoodoo (to wrap DX8 to DX11) with the Fast Memory Access option turned on helps a ton on both platforms, but does not resolve the issue fully with and without the patch for me on Windows 10 and Linux.

Hey there.

Glad to see someone remembers these clunky, old games and still launches them so many years later.

In my experience, the maximum FPS cap does practically not affect these frame drops at all and might just make them more noticeable. In all tests only DgVoodoo's "Fast Memory Access" improved them dramatically, but I did not test DXVK in these games.
The non-transparent nature of "Fast Video Access" is not very helpful here unfortunately.

I have given the French version (Paris-Marseille Racing II) another go on 100 FPS.
What is peculiar is that these issues do not seem to happen when the player is in the lead and just driving around smoothly. The FPS drops can usually be directly reproduced by braking though and AI cars do indeed cause them at times.
An unresolved issue so far. Bottom line: Fast Video Access improves the FPS drops a lot but does not remove the problem per se.
The changed FPS cap does not address this shortcoming.

Hello, I registered to this forum to say that I really appreciate the work on your FPS Patcher (especially for YGO PoC games)!

I have been making something similar as a hobby project in .NET (only Win 7 or newer with a plan for a "legacy" version) but haven't picked it up in a while. What I appreciate the most about your patcher is that it is written in C so I guess it would support even Win98 (which is the oldest OS that these games were made for).

Comparing your patcher to what I was making I have found that one advantage that my patcher would have over yours is that it is able to support any executable from these games (talking about the original exe or "other" exe files) especially since I see that there is no support for Yugi the Destiny V2.

If you want to enhance your patcher further to support more executables for these YGO games I can provide you with some details as to which address that needs to be modified corresponds to what executable and what are the differences between these versions. I could post them publicly as well as a new reply if you want or you could reach out to me in some way (I don't know if this forum has a private message system).

Hi, thanks a lot for your input!

I knew the static addresses topic would come up in a timely manner (and rightfully so). Indeed, there are plans to make the detection more dynamic and to support pretty much any common version of these files, however a different project is consuming a lot of available time at the moment.
It will not occupy me for that much longer though.

Your offer sounds great and information regarding the rather tricky 2.0 update will definitely be appreciated.
